If you are still having problems try removing and reinserting the SIM or booting with the new SIM already inside. Finally, you can also try to Reset Network Settings from the Settings:General:Reset Menu.

***IMPORTANT: For those having trouble. The yellowsn0w application can simply be uninstalled. If you have tried all the hints and suggestions and still have problems just use Cydia to remove the package and then reboot. You will then have service with your locked carrier as always.

***THANKS: A big thank you to all the members of the iPhone Dev-Team for all their hard work! It is much appreciated by all.

***UPDATES: The Dev-Team has made yellowsn0w 0.97 available. This version supports the 2.2.1 firmware using the 02.28 baseband.

pwnage 2.0.3 unlock 2.0 iphone

Pwnage v2.0.3 is out to support v2.0.2 firmwares on OSX. The guide is the same but the firmware support is expanded. You can download it via sparkle (the internal update system in pwnage). Or you can grab it off theiphoneproject.org here.

How to downgrade Iphone 2.0 to 1.1.4

This version of downgrading to 1.1.4 was published by iClarified.com over the weekend. I am trying to cover all those downgrading formula over the web on my blog; so that iPhone 1st gen users who have upgraded their iPhones to 2.0 by mistake, could be helped. Please keep commenting on these posts so that other users could benefit from users who have cracked this 2.0 to 1.1.4 riddle:

iClarified Formula - You will want to perform this tutorial if you accidentally updated to the or you just rather be on 1.1.4. To follow this tutorial you will need to have iLiberty (Windows, Mac), iTunes 7.5 (Windows, Mac), and the 1.1.4 firmware.

  1. If you have Windows, uninstall iTunes 7.7 as well as Apple Mobile Device Support and then reboot your computer. Go to your Control Panel and use Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features(Vista) to do this!If you have Mac OS X, open Terminal from Applications:Utilities. Enter the following commands into the Terminal window:defaults write com.apple.iTunes StoreActivationMode -boolean NO
defaults write com.apple.iTunes StoreGeniusMode -boolean NO
    killall iTunesHelper
    rm -r /Applications/iTunes.app
    rm -r /Library/Receipts/iTunesX.pkg
    rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iTunes*

    ————
  2. Install iTunes 7.5 onto your computer using the download links provided above.
    ————
  3. Before attempting to launch iTunes 7.5 for the first time you need to delete or rename the iTunes folder.Windows:Rename the C:\Documents and Settings\**your user name**\My Documents\My Music\iTunes folder to iTunes Backup.Mac OS X:Select the iTunes folder in your Music directory and rename it iTunes Backup. You press the Enter key to rename a file in Mac OS X.
    ————
  4. Launch iTunes by selecting its icon in the dock.
    ————
  5. Put your iPhone into DFU mode by following these instructions.
    ————
  6. iTunes will notify you that it has found an iPhone in recovery mode. Click the OK button.
    ————
  7. Hold down Option and press the Restore button. If you are using Windows hold down Shift and press the Restore button.
  8. Select the iPhone 1.1.4 firmware file you downloaded earlier and click the Open button.
    ————
  9. Once the restore has completed you will get a 1015 error or similar.
If you get an error in the 1600s then try putting the iPhone into DFU mode and try again. You might also want to try a different USB port, remove your SIM card and then restart your system and if all else fails use a different computer!
    ————
  10. Now you can use your favourite unlocking method to kick your iPhone out of restore mode and unlock it.Below are some instructions to help you with the more popular methods; however, I would suggest using PwnageTool as it will downgrade your baseband.Windows: iLiberty+, WinPwn
    Mac: iLiberty+, PwnageTool

    NOTES***
The first time I tried this I opened iLiberty+ with iTunes still open. It immediately kicked my phone out of recovery mode and then the application closed down. I reopened it and then was able to unlock successfully on my first attempt.

    IMPORTANT***
PwnageTool will downgrade your baseband. There is no reason to use an alternate tool do perform this function.
    ————

  11. Select Software Update from the Apple Menu at the top left hand corner of your screen.
Select iTunes 7.7 from the list of software available for install and click the Install 1 Item button.

For windows users just reinstall iTunes 7.7 from the Apple website here

    ————

  12. Once installation of iTunes 7.7 has completed you can rename the folder iTunes Backup created in Step Three to just iTunes. You will then get your library back!

Unlock your iPhone for free!
This website contains lots of information and tutorials about how to unlock and get the most out of your iPhone. Thanks to Iphone Dev team, elite team, Installer.app team, geohot and all others involved in the iPhone hacking scene!
Latest news:
1.1.2 and 1.1.3 OTB software unlock released by George Hotz!
8th Feb 2008: Yes, he did it. Now you can unlock your brand new iPhone very easy. I set up an Installer script to make it even easier. In short terms, downgrade your phone to 1.1.1 and jailbreak as described below. After you have access to the phone, open Installer and goto Unlocking Tools and Install 1.1.2/1.1.3 OTB Unlocker. When it completes, you must upgrade to 1.1.2. Click the following link for full details:
1.1.2 and 1.1.3 unlock tutorial!
New and better 1.1.1 jailbreak method
I've released a tweaked version of jailbreakme.com's jailbreak method. To use it, just use i.unlock.no as URL instead of jailbreakme.com when you are about to jailbreak your 1.1.1 phone. More details here.
Status on 1.1.3 jailbreak
1.1.3 was released on January 15th. There's two jailbreak solutions released. The "offical" jailbreak can be downloaded here. The other one was "unofficially" released by NateTrue, but reports tells that there are some issues with it. DON'T upgrade to 1.1.3 using iTunes! 1.1.3 secpack is found, so if you accidently upgraded your OTB 1.1.1 or older it is possible to downgrade.
Info about "out of the box" 1.1.2 unlocking and bootloader downgrading
It's now possible to downgrade the bootloader on out of the box 1.1.2 which has bootloader v4.6. This means that it's also possible to unlock these phones after they are downgraded. To downgrade you will need to use testpoints, meaning the phone needs to be disassembled. How to unlock OTB 1.1.2 with testpoints tutorial here (old, read news above)
Info about 1.1.2
If you bought a phone that had 1.1.2 preinstalled (it shows a picture of a cable and the iTunes icon), the phone have a new bootloader preventing an easy unlock. It is now possible to downgrade the bootloader, but it requires disassembly and testpoint. Tutorial available here!
Info about virginizing and upgrading old unlocked iPhones
If you have an unlocked 1.0.2 iPhone, or upgraded to 1.1.1 and have "damaged" imei (0049) you need to repair your phone. I have now put together the ultimate repair solution - this is the absolutely easiest way to repair the phones (virginize). To do so, just add http://i.unlock.no/ as a Source in Installer, make sure BSD Subsystem is installed (else it's in the System category) and install The Virginizer found in the Unlocking Tools category. Click here for more details about virginizing. And remember, you got it here first!

You will now be returned to the normal dialer.Tap on contacts, and tap the + icon to add a new. The only info you are going to add to this contact are two URL's. To add a URL, tap Add new URL.
